Discover the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, 45 miles of dramatic coastline set against the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The Yorkshire coastline encompasses some of the UK's most rugged and charming countryside, from tiny fishing villages clinging to rocky cliffs to glorious stretches of sand and family friendly seaside resorts with everything from wind swept abbeys to the country's BEST FISH AND CHIPS - WHEN ARE YOU COMING ?

SLIP BACK IN TIME  - visit the quaint small fishing towns with cobbled streets and clusters of ' higgeldy piggeldy' cottages 'squashed' into the gap between the sea and the steep cliffs.

The historic town of Whitby is just 6 miles away where the the Captain James Cook adventures began and are well celebrated. The Gothic charm and atmosphere of Whitby, with it's Abbey ruins inspired Bram Stoker in his novel ' Dracula'.

There is a strong maritime tradition in the town and to this day there is much to remind the visitors of its illustrious past. Legends  are rife in this area and a short trip along the coast will bring you to Robin Hood's Bay where the notorious trade of smuggling took place. Runswick Bay, Staithes and Sandsend are well worth a visit.

Scarborough, regarded as the world's first seaside resort, with its expanse of golden beaches is less than 1 hour away.

Very sad to be leaving. If only life could be as exciting as the first glimpse of the steam locomotive from the upstairs bedroom window.
