The cottage is an excellent base for walking or touring the area. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are both less than 10mins away and Castle Howard, Scarborough and York are less than 1 hour.
Goathland ,otherwise known as 'Aidensfield' in the TV series 'Heartbeat' is just a short drive or walk away.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway station at Grosmont, is just a 1 mile walk along the railtrail, past the engine sheds, where you can board a steam train for an amazing journey through the beautiful countryside to Pickering or Whitby.
Esk Valley owes it's existence to the development of nearby ironstone mines. The row of 24 cottages was built in the 1860's to house the increasing workforce. They were rented to the workers for 2 shillings and sixpence per week. It will cost you a somewhat more !
"Please continue feeding the birds they are gorgeous. Watching the woodpecker on the bird table was superb. I have never seen a black pheasant before and the squirrels were hilarious."
